Mallet finger injury is characterized by discontinuity of the terminal extensor tendon resulting in an extensor lag at distal Interphalangeal (DIP) joint with or without compensatory hyperextension at the proximal Interphalangeal (PIP) joint. For a seemingly simple/minor injury, a lengthy, tedious treatment course is often required to obtain a satisfactory result. The management of bony mallet with or without large and subluxated DIP joint remains controversial. We report a 21-year-old male with two closed bony mallet injuries over the left middle and ring finger and a concomitant close fracture of the left scaphoid following a motor vehicle accident. Our patient was treated with open reduction and internal fixation using hook plate for both finger and headless compression screw for the scaphoid, resulting in a good outcome at 2 months post operatively.
