Thinking Outside the Scalpel: Inovative, Low-Cost Solutions for Hand Surgery Challenges in Resource-Limited Settings
Abstract
Indonesia, with its vast archipelago and populous nation encompassing different culture, has its own set of unique healthcare needs, particularly concerning trauma cases and a large variety of hand conditions. Indonesia presents unique challenges in the field of hand surgery, especially in resource-limited areas that often restrict access to advanced medical technology and facilities. In these environments, healthcare professionals deliver essential surgical care without the conventional standard tools and resources available in high-income countries. In the words of the great philosopher Plato, necessity is the mother of innovation. As such, it is imperative that we continue to find ways and explore some innovative and low-cost solutions to address the challenges of hand surgery in these regions.
